Basic Information about the Species:
American holly has red berries that are its seeds. The red color of the berries comes over time. At first, the berries are green. Its wood is white, light in weight, and brittle; it is not heavy. The bark of the tree has a "wartlike" feel. The leaves have sharp and pointy edges when full grown, but as new leaves they are not as hard.
