Air potato is a vine that can grow over 60 feet and is a fast growing plant. The potato part of the vine is like the seed. The leaves are heart-shaped. The potato can often be found high in trees, is usually spherical, and has been found up to 6 inches in diameter. This plant has no natural controls in Florida. They come from the same family as yams or sweet potatoes. This plant is not from this area. It is a non-native species. Some types of air potatoes are posionous and some types are edible . Air potatoes are invasive plants meaning they try to take over.
